Keith Mervyn Ward was born 1961 in St James, Trinidad.
He spent his formative years in Belmont, where he started his art by drawing houses in his community. When he was 13 years old, his family moved to Diego Martin.
A versatile, self-taught artist, Ward moves confidently within a variety of media: Oils, Water-colours, Acrylic, Inks, Charcoal, Collages and Wood sculpture.
Keith Ward received his BA in Visual Arts (Honours) from the University of the West Indies (St. Augustine) in 2005.
He finds artistic inspirations all around him and challenges a variety of subject matter.
Ward's brushwork moves from sensuous to rugose. This paradox brings great emotional impact and animation to his work. Strong lines and vibrant colours are symbolic with his paintings.
Keith Ward's palette and painterly style produces art-works that are both vibrant and animated. The artist believes that his work reflects his philosophical outlook on life. He therefore strives to improve his visual expressions by continually pursing spiritual growth and enhancing his artistic competence. His themes explore from landscapes, abstracts and nudes to social and cultural compositions. Driven by a passion for a distinct self-expression coupled with a love for nature his work reflects both a psychological and realistic light.
